Meghan Causes A Stir With Fashion Choice At Wedding
Again her wedding outfit gets picked apart by the public.
She's managed to cause controversy with her choices of fashion at every turn -- the biggest of course with her own Givenchy wedding dress -- and now Duchess Of Sussex Meghan Markle has caused an uproar in Oscar de la Renta.
Attending the church wedding of Celia McCorquodale, the niece of Princess Diana, Markle opted for a blue and white wrap dress by the designer -- pairing it with a white fascinator -- and giving off a rather more boho vibe than we're used to.
Meghan wore a low, messy bun and simple, natural makeup to complete the look and a pair of matching heels.
But not everyone was as happy with her look as Prince Harry -- and the design house -- seemed to be. Some called the look "too casual" for a wedding of this magnitude, while other people fired off at the fit of the dress, which they said was way too big for Markle's svelte frame.
"It looked like she was wearing her dressing gown," wrote one disgruntled fan.
And they weren't alone in their critique.
One user even directed her distaste at the designer -- asking "What am I to expect if I want to buy Oscar de la Renta?".
Others, though, were quick to defend the duchess for her look, saying "You don't have to like it, all that matters is that she likes it. She isn't wearing it for your approval."
But Meghan wasn't going to let the dress ruin her day. Not at all! Just one month after the royal couple said “I do,” she and hubby Harry were all smiles and held hands as they attended the wedding. Celia, who is the daughter of Diana’s eldest sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale, tied the knot with husband George Woodhouse at St. Andrew and St. Mary’s Church in Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire.
It wasn't the only part of Meghan's outfit that caused issues, either. To celebrate the happy occasion, the duchess, 36, chose the frock which retails for around AU $7000 and paired it with matching heels -- and it was these that nearly caused her to come a cropper. Harry was forced to grab her hand tightly as she stumbled on the way to the church.
Luckily Meghan stayed upright -- and the family celebration went off without a hitch. Celia even wore one of Diana's tiaras for her special day -- the diamond one worn by Princess Diana at her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981.
