Swedish Royal Siblings Steal Spotlight In Sweet Family Snap
Move over George, Charlotte and Louis.
Look out Prince George, Princess Charlotte and baby Louis because there looks to be some competition for your 'cutest royal' crown. Once you've spied these new photos of Sweden's royal youngsters we think you might agree. The dimples. The toothy grins. And the outfits!
Meet Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. They are Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel's children and they are sweet as can be. The adorable siblings are absolutely beaming in a photo posted on the royal family's official Instagram account on June 7.
Estelle, 6, is proudly wearing a traditional Swedish folk dress -- the yellow and blue colours are taken from the country’s flag -- while her two-year-old younger brother Oscar kept it classic in a white shirt and navy blue shorts. Big sis Estelle has her arm around her baby bro as the twosome smile big for the camera.
The caption -- when translated from Swedish -- reads "Happy National Day from Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar on behalf of the Royal Family."
The beautiful snap was taken in honour of Sweden's National Day or Nationaldagen which is held on June 6 each year. The public holiday celebrates the country's independence and the Swedish royal family play a big part on the day.
This year three generations of Swedish royals gathered in front of Stockholm’s Royal Palace for a lovely multi-generational portrait. Estelle and Oscar are front and centre -- as their cuteness demands -- flanked by mum and dad Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. Grandparents King Carl XVI and Queen Silvia complete the group.
Like young Oscar, Prince Daniel and King Carl opted for modern navy suits while Estelle's mum and grandma went patriotic in national garb. Note the white head coverings worn by Crown Princess Victoria and Queen Silvia -- they're called Sverigedräkten and they're traditionally worn by married women.
The simply gorgeous family then hopped in the royal carriage -- as one does -- for a tour of the nation's capital.
And that wasn't all -- Crown Princess Victoria's ridiculously good looking brother Prince Carl Philip and his equally stunning wife Princess Sofia also stepped out for the celebrations. This family has excellent genes and then some.
And if you're keen on tradition, there's another big royal event taking place in Britain this weekend. We're talking about the Queen's Birthday Parade -- also known as Trooping the Colour -- which is a ceremony that has marked the official birthday of the sovereign for over 260 years.
We're hanging out to see all of our favourite Brit royals, of course, but none more so than the mini-members of that monarchy, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's three children. But Sweden's cute-as-a-button Princess Estelle has us yearning for a national costume for George, Charlotte and Louis.
What would it look like? A tiny three-piece suit made in a Union Jack print? Who knows -- but the Queen should seriously consider making it happen and fast. Until then we can just content ourselves with Prince George's unofficial uniform -- his famous short-and-knee-high-sock combo.
