The Queen And Meghan Markle Are Going On A Royal Roadtrip

Snacks? Check. Mix-tape? Check. Tiaras? Check and check.

The Queen is visiting northwest England in June for a series of public appearances and while that's nothing unusual for the busy royal, her choice of travel companion is causing a stir. The 92-year-old monarch is bringing her brand-new granddaughter-in-law along for the ride.

That's right, Meghan Markle and the Queen are packing up their tiaras -- right? -- and hitting the road. They'll make the 320-kilometre journey from London to Chester city in the country's northwest on June 14. There they'll participate in three engagements including two official openings -- a bridge and a theatre -- and a lunch.

We're loving the thought of the Queen -- the world's longest-reigning queen regnant -- taking newbie Meghan under her wing on their very first royal tour together. Not that we think Meghan will be out of her depth. She did make her first appearance alongside Prince Harry as husband and wife a mere three days after getting married and was the picture of elegance, ease and charm.

On the road again; the Queen and Meghan are heading to Chester on June 14.

As much as we'd like it to be, we suspect that this won't be your typical family roadtrip. In our dreams the royal duo would load up the SUV, grab some snacks, throw on a mixtape and settle in for some serious bonding.

Imagine all the gossip the Queen knows after 66 years on the throne. A chauffeured limo, polite conversation and chef-prepared hors d'oeuvres might be closer to reality though.

It looks to be a busy day for the twosome. The royal family's official website -- we have it bookmarked, don't you? -- states that the Queen and Meghan's day will start outside of the Chester city centre in Widnes where they'll officially open the Mersey Gateway Bridge at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre.

They'll then travel into the heart of Chester city to open the Storyhouse Theatre on Hunter Street followed by a lunch at Chester Town Hall. Phew! Three engagements and all before midday.

A royal's life isn't as cushy as we thought and Meghan will have to hit the ground running. She's supposedly currently on her honeymoon with Prince Harry and it'll be straight back to work upon their return.

The Queen herself is always on the move. She celebrated the 65th anniversary of her coronation on June 2, and is gearing up for a busy birthday weekend ahead. The Queen's Birthday Parade -- also known as Trooping the Colour -- is a ceremony that has marked the official birthday of the sovereign for over 260 years. Elizabeth II's proper birthday is April 21. Many happy returns, your majesty.
