The First Official Pic Of Prince Louis Is Here And It's The Sweetest

Pucker up baby Louis.

What you need to know
  • Baby Prince Louis Arthur was born April 26 in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital In London
  • He is the youngest child of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton
  • His two older siblings are Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, three
  • Prince Louis is the fifth in line to the throne
  • His name is pronounced Loo-E, Not Lou-Is

Kensington Palace has released two new pictures of new baby Prince Louis and they're guaranteed to make you swoon. In one snap a proud Princess Charlotte is giving her brand new baby brother the softest of kisses. Her mouth is pressed close to his smushy cheek and you can almost feel the love.

In the second pic baby Prince Louis is looking into the distance, his darling chubby cheeks, well, darling. It's a little too early to tell of course, but at this stage we think  does look a little like his dad, the Duke of Cambridge.

The royals shared the following message alongside the adorable image. "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess at Kensington Palace.‬ ‪This image of Prince Louis was taken by The Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace on 26th April.‬ ‪The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday."‬

The image was immediately liked by close to half a million people and comments of delight and joy poured in. "Handsome boy, precious family," shared one. "He's perfect," said another. "Simply adorable," shared another and the comments continued in much the same vein.

Both images were snapped by the children's mother, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. Unlike most royals who have opted for formal photographers and accordingly, more formal settings, Kate seems to prefer to take her own candid images and share those instead. And it's a choice we heartily applaud.

Her images, while perhaps not as sharp or as perfectly framed as those of professional, positively glow with warmth and love and all the good stuff. And it warms our cockles no end.

But back to the latest shots. These two images have been shared widely -- the whole world loves an adorable baby -- but interestingly, there has been no appearance of older brother Prince George. Maybe he's not quite as excited by the new arrival as the rest of us?

Still, if you're missing his lovely little face here's a snap to tide you over.

And don't worry -- there will be plenty more to come.
