Did Serena Williams Just Give Meghan Markle Wedding Advice?
The tennis star doesn't hold back.
Serena Williams is the best tennis player in the world. She's also a close friend of Meghan Markle. Correct. The two women are tight.
The pair met in 2014 at a game of flag football at DIRECTV's Celebrity Beach Bowl and have been fast friends ever since. Meghan, 36, was spotted cheering her pro athlete pal on at the US Open later that year. She also supported Serena, also 36, during her New York Fashion Week show in 2016.
The women also bonded over both finding love. Serena met her now husband Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of the social media platform Reddit, in May, 2015 while in Rome. Prince Harry and Meghan are said to have started dating the following year. No doubt dating work-shopping occurred.
Serena and Alexis are now husband and wife and the parents of daughter Alexis Olympia who was born on September 1, 2017. And therefore Serena is in a position where she feels she can provide advice to her not quite-as-experienced pal. And she's not holding back.
"I just think it's so important to enjoy the moment," she said during an interview on Good Morning America. "And eat the cake -- I didn't get to eat mine at the wedding. We were just having so much fun!"
Given their long-standing relationship and her obvious comfort when it comes to offering up advice, it stands to reason that Serena will be a guest at her dear friend's nuptials. We're going to so far as to say yes -- she will be there, but if truth be told we can't confirm or deny because she's playing her cards close to her chest on that score.
When prompted by GMA host Robin Roberts about whether or not she’ll be attending, the Wimbledon star did her best to deflect the inquiry.
"I don’t know, I think it's during one of the [tennis] tournaments, I'll see if I can make it," she responded.
