The 'Party Of Five' Reboot Is Officially Happening

The beloved late '90s drama is coming back with a new, Trump-era storyline.

The original cast included Neve Campbell, Matthew Fox, Lacey Chabert and Scott Wolf as the Salinger siblings, who lost their parents in a tragic car accident.

The upcoming series will be written by the OG creators Amy Lippman and Chris Keyer but will focus on a very different, more politically charged Party Of Five, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Acostas have been introduced as the new generation family, who lose their parents in a different kind of way after they're deported to Mexico.

Up-and-coming actors Brandon Larracunte, Emily Tosta, Niko Guardado, Elle Paris Legaspi have been announced as four-fifths of the new TV fam.

Freeform, a Disney-owned cable network has now ordered ten whole episodes of the reboot, with the company commenting that it was the right time for another round of the sibling-based drama.

"Party of Five embodies the heart and soul of what it means to be a family in the most trying of times," said  Freeform president Tom Ascheim.

"We’re so lucky that Freeform gets to be the home for this reimagined story, as we continue to represent the resilience of young adults and the importance of fighting for your voice in times of doubt,” he added.

Some fans of the original series have questioned whether we really need a reboot of Party of Five and whether it's even a reboot at all if the only connection between the two series is that it's literally a ~party of five~.

There's no release date just yet for the ten new episodes but the new series should be out sometime later this year.
