Pete Davidson Jokes About His Mental Health Scare On SNL

Following a worrying message last month in which he said he didn't "want to be on this earth anymore," Pete Davidson has poked fun at his situation on the first episode of Saturday Night Live for 2019.

Friends, fans, and colleagues were left worried over Davidson's mental health in mid-December after he posted a note about his declining mental health on Instagram before deleting his account.

"I really don't want to be on this earth anymore," he wrote in a screenshot from the Apple note app. "I'm doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don't know how much longer I can last. All I've ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so."

But along with a new year and new episodes of SNL, it seems that the comedian is taking on 2019 with the idea that laughter is the best medicine, after he seemed to poke fun at his low moment in the latest episode.

Appearing alongside Colin Jost on the show’s “Weekend Update” segment, the 25-year-old said, “As you know, I’ve had a really crazy month but I want to talk about something that matters a lot to me -- the new Clint Eastwood movie, The Mule.

Comedian John Mulaney then added, "I’ve been spending some time with Pete to try to show him that you can have a life in comedy that is not insane. A sober, domestic life.”

Pete then quipped, "Yeah, and after observing John's life, I publically threatened suicide," before adding, “I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t make that joke, but it is funny.”

Davidson also seemed to reference ex-fiancee Ariana Grande at the end of the skit, declaring, "I didn't mention her once!"
