I'm A Celebrity 2019: Superfan Ajay Rochester Finally Gets Her Time In The Jungle

For some of the celebs heading into the jungle the experience was totally daunting, but for Ajay Rochester, it was a dream come true.

When asked if it was a difficult decision for the former Biggest Loser host, she told 10 daily she had already agreed before she was even approached.

“I’ve been a fan since the English version, I even wrote to them in 2013 fangirling out,” Rochester said, sharing that she asked in the letter to be part of the UK version of the show.

“They politely declined,” she revealed, before adding, “they just said ‘Our cast is really firm but we’ll keep you in mind’ but that was really just a gentle way of saying ‘Who the f**k are you?’”

For fans of Biggest Loser, they may be surprised to see a different side to Rochester, who said that people who knew her from the hosting gig were constantly surprised at how down-to-Earth she was.

“Every other show I’ve been a part of, I’ve never been able to be me. Love me or hate me, now’s your chance to actually love or hate me for me,” Rochester said.

She went on to say that she’s ready for people to judge her authentic self, jokingly telling us, “I mean I don’t really want you to judge me, I want you to love me!”, she said it would be no different to the times people met her in the real world.

"They’re like, ‘You’re so real… so funny and normal! You’re really nice!’ People were really surprised,” she told 10 daily. “Obviously, I had to be tough on people, but that’s not who I am. I’m super, super excited about people getting to see the real me.”

That’s not the only thing Rochester is excited for. The uber fan revealed she had watched every episode of both the UK and Aussie versions of the show.

“I’m a fan!” she reiterated, “I’m like the highlights reel of I’m A Celebrity.” Rochester then performed a perfect impression of Anthony Mundine encountering snakes during a challenge, then switched to recreate Vicky Pattison shaving her legs.

“Richt, right, I’m up ‘ere shavin’ me legs,” Rochester said in a mock-Geordie accent, “I don’t give a f**k yeah, right?”

When we say this will be a dream come true for the author and single mum, we aren’t exaggerating.

“I did a vision board in 2015 and I got it made up into this piece of wallpaper that I stuck on my wall,” she explained. Just days before she entered the jungle Rochester received a Facebook memory of a photo of the wallpaper.

“I have this picture and it’s a picture of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on my vision board, the day I arrived in South Africa [I got the notification]. To the day! I was like holy sh*t it was meant to be!”

“I really am such a fan,” she said, adding, “I just can’t wait. I’m so excited I just want to get in there.”

As for those immortal words of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, Rochester says there’s no way she’s even whispering them.

“There are only two ways that you’re going to be able to get me out of there… either you're going to have to drag me out by the heels or I’ll come out with a crown on my head… or in an ambulance,” she said, touching wood, “I’m not leaving. No.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here airs Sunday to Thursday at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play. I’m A Celebrity Saturday Schoolies airs Saturdays at 7pm on 10 and 10 Play.
