The Bachelorette 2018: Bill Thinks His Clashes With Charlie Stopped Him From Forming A Connection With Ali

He was one of the early frontrunners, but after a stumble at hometowns, Bill ultimately failed to win Ali's heart.

After not receiving a rose in the last rose ceremony of the season, Bill spoke to 10 daily about his "full-on, drama-filled" experience on the show which, despite the ups and downs, he said was an "overall very positive" one.

Not receiving a rose seemed to come as a surprise to Bill, who had been an early favourite to go all the way to the finals.

"I could see Ali fitting into my life really easy and developing feelings deeper," he said, "but you don't really know how the other person's feeling -- at the end of the day it's her choice, but at the end of the day I was hoping to get a rose, I wanted to get one."

Bill had a tough time on the show, despite forming a connection with Ali early on in the first cocktail party, Bill's authenticity was constantly called into question, usually by Charlie. Even Ali's BFF and cousin who came to visit wondered if he was sincere or if he was just telling her what she wanted to hear.

"It was extremely frustrating to have to defend myself," Bill said, "At one point I even said, you know, 'why would I put my life on hold for however long just to make up lies?' That's a waste of everyone's time."

Questions over his authenticity landed Bill in the "sudden death" double date where he was pitted against Ivan.

"That was one of the hardest days throughout the experience," Bill admitted, "I was good mates with Ivan and the fact was that one of us was going to be sent home but at the end, it was up to Ali."

"I was there for myself, to fall in love with Ali and [as hard as it was to see Ivan leave] I can catch up with him whenever I want now."

Despite defending himself over and over (and over) again, Bill and Charlie butted heads over and over again. We tried to get to the bottom of the tension, but when we spoke to Charlie he laughed it off as a way to get more airtime.

"Oh my God, is that what he said?" Bill laughed.

"I feel like the whole time that happened," Bill said about his clashes with Charlie, "it stopped me progressing our relationship. Because he had it in for me it sort of railroaded my chances of falling in love with Ali quicker."

Admitting he thought it all stemmed from the wild rose -- the advantage handed to Bill at the first cocktail party that gave him the ability to "steal" a date off another bachelor -- Bill said he felt like Charlie really had it out for him, "for no apparent reason".

But Charlie wasn't Bill's only hurdle in his Bachelorette journey, in fact, both Charlie and Bill fumbled the hometown visits -- with Charlie's implosion leading to his not receiving a rose last week.

As we saw in Bill's final episode, he had no clue Ali had such a bad time while visiting his hometown of Melbourne.

"I had a great time on my hometown! It was really nice, I was able to show [Ali] around Melbourne and take her to the dog park I go to every day."

Speaking of dog parks, we had to ask about his "friend" (or ex, depending on who you ask) Amy who he introduced Ali to during the hometowns. After he left the show, we needed to know if they ended up getting back together.

"We're still very good friends," he laughed, "that's how it's been for ages, that's how it'll continue... good friends, that's it."

So, if Bill and Amy aren't starting a blended family with their two dogs we asked if he would ever give another dating show a shot, like Paradise for example.

"I'd have to see where my life's at and what's going on," Bill said adding, "I can't say for sure really."

How open-ended!
