Henry Cavill To Star In Netflix's Witcher Series

The streaming service has found their Geralt of Rivia.

Henry Cavill has been tapped to play the lead role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's upcoming series based on The Witcher.

A best-selling series of short stories and novels The Witcher has spawned graphic novels, a film and TV series in Poland as well as a series of video games and even board games all based in and around the world of the witcher Geralt.

In Geralt's world a witcher is a monster hunter who develops abilities at a young age to assist in their lifelong battle against a variety of beasts. But sometimes the true beasts are the people we meet along the way! Deep!

Anyway this will be a return to the small screen for Cavill, who starred in Showtime's The Tudors series in 2010 but has featured more heavily in blockbusters like Justice League and Mission: Impossible - Fallout.

According to Variety, Netflix's eight-episode season will follow Geralt as he struggles to find his place in the world, but when he, a sorceress and a young princess with a dangerous secret are all flung together by the winds of fate, the trio must learn to work together.
