Moana Hope's Survivor Journey Cut Short, But Says It Was Still The Best Experience Of Her Life

Hell yes we asked where that idol is.

It was the shock elimination that we really didn't see coming, and didn't WANT to see coming.

One of Survivor Australia: Champions Versus Contenders' biggest players, one of the architects of Russell's demise Moana Hope was sent packing last night.

Despite the massive shock, and the outcry following, Moana wasn't entirely prepared for the waves of support.

"I would say [I've gotten] hundreds but maybe thousands of messages of people quite literally expressing their love and how much they supported me on the show" she told ten daily.

She also found strong bonds within the tribe, something she wasn't entirely expecting as the whole experience was to push her out of her comfort zones.

"When I was asked to do the show and I was like 'Do you know who I am?' I'm scared of snakes, spiders, sharks... the dark... Everything on the island," she said.

"I do a lot for my family and other people, I had never done something for myself. I consulted with my partner and decided to do this for me, to challenge me."

Describing her time on the island as the best of her life, leaving was a tough call to make. Plagued with illness, Moana forced herself through the challenges before returning to camp and, as she put it, "go back and lay on the ground and vomit".

"In eight days I lost five kilos," she told us adding, "Being stuck on an island with no doctors, you can't just go to Chemist Warehouse... it was getting worse and worse."

Feeling like she wasn't going to recover from her illness anytime soon, Moana said things started to take a toll on her mental health.

"I just started to get pretty depressed, I had to put my physical and mental health first. I knew if I stayed the best experience of my life could become the worst."

Making the most out of a bad situation, her tribe saw a chance to use Moana's request to leave the island as a prime opportunity to flush fellow Champion Shane Gould's immunity idol out, a plan that couldn't have gone better for the remaining Champions.

Speaking of idols, we couldn't help but ask... where is the idol Moana found and stashed in Mat Rodger's bag? Here's how that went down:

ten daily: Does that mean Mat still has your idol? Or did you walk out with it?

Moana: I can't confirm or deny anything.

Tribe 'til the end.
