Corona SunSets Festival Will Be Ditching Single-Use Plastic At This Weekend's Event

Corona SunSets Festival kicks off at Wollongong’s North Beach this weekend, and they'll be banning single-use plastic items.

Nothing's worse than seeing the plethora of plastics cups strewn across a festival ground when the party's over.

But this weekend at the Corona SunSets Festival in Wollongong, fans will get to get amongst the ~summer vibes~ with artists like SAFIA, Set Mo, Boo Seeka, Odette, and more dropping bangers all day long.

This year, however, festival organisers and Corona have ensured that festivalgoers get educated on plastic pollution, and will be getting rid of all single-use plastic for the event -- instead, they'll be serving lush cocktails with using paper straws and reusable cups.

As well as this, any food at the event will be served to go in plastic-free packaging.

"Corona is on a mission to protect paradise and plastic pollution is the most visible issue affecting paradise today. The beach and the ocean are Corona’s spiritual home but right now it’s under siege from marine plastic pollution," Corona Australia's Andy Vance said.

“The festival provides a particularly relevant opportunity to educate our guests on this growing issue, as they enjoy an amazing day on the pristine sands of North Beach, the same environment that is under threat,” he continued.

They'll also be encouraging punters to make a "plastic-free pledge," in which attendees can choose to make a public promise to steer clear of coffee cups, plastic straws, plastic bags single-use plastic bottles.

Plus, for each pledge that's posted on social media during the day, Corona and Parley will donate $10 towards the protection of Wollongong’s beautiful beaches.
