Ariana Grande Performs For First Time Since Mac Miller's Death And Breaking Off Engagement
It's been a rough couple of months for Ariana Grande but the singer didn't let it hinder her return to the stage.
Performing on NBC's A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway on Monday night, Ariana Grande wowed the crowd with her powerful rendition of "The Wizard And I."
Not only did the pint-sized powerhouse raise the roof with her stellar performance, but the pre-taped special was also Ari's first time taking the stage since ex-boyfriend Mac Miller passed away and she and ex Pete Davidson called off their whirlwind engagement.
It wasn't just the audience who was super impressed by her performance, Kristin Chenoweth -- who played Glinda in the Broadway show -- raved about the 25-year-old's performance, and revealed that Ari was originally set to sing another of her fave songs for the special.
“It was called ‘Making Good,’” Chenoweth told Entertainment Weekly, adding, “It was about how you make something good and you make it great. Those lyrics stuck with me all these years. I wish Idina could release it or somebody could do it. It’d be cool. I loved it.”
While the 'God Is A Woman' songstress has remained mum on SNL star Davidson following the split, she revealed to fans on Instagram just how excited she was to be performing in the television special.
“Honoured to be included in the celebration of 15 years of my favorite musical of all time,” she captioned the photo, adding, “wouldn’t miss it for the whole universe” alongside a green heart emoji.
However, just hours before the final taping took place, Ariana reportedly skipped the final dress rehearsal -- though she later revealed that she was trying to overcome her anxiety in order to attend the final taping.
“Can’t believe I almost let my anxiety ruin this for me today!” Grande captioned the since-deleted photo. “Not today Satan! Not tomorrow or the next day either not no more u can suck my big green d*ck finna sing my heart out and be a big walking vessel of love bye.”
Ariana has previously performed in musicals 13 in 2008 as well as Hairspray Live! in 2016.
