Paula Abdul Falls Head First Off Stage While Performing

Singer Paula Abdul took a bit of a tumble over the weekend while performing in Mississippi.

The mishap occurred as the American Idol judge was performing her Straight Up Paula! show at the Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Saturday, with the entire event captured in a fan video.

Working the crowd as she sang her 1991 single “The Promise of a New Day”,  the 56-year-old began dancing dangerously close to the edge of the stage while wearing heels.

After encouraging the crowd to join in by raising her hands, clapping, and yelling out "c'mon," she soon took a face-first tumble into the audience, where concertgoers can be heard voicing concern for the star.

Not to worry, however, as fans at the show revealed that Paula just brushed off the fall like it was NBD and went on with the show like a true pro.

“She did not seem hurt at the time of the fall and still finished like a champ,” the fan who posted the video told PEOPLE. “She stated she was a dancer, and falls and drops she has gotten used to over the years.”

According to fan comments on Instagram, the fall was likely due to the fact that Paula was unable to see a gap between two wooden boxes and therefore she walked out on to what she assumed was an even platform.

On Friday -- the night before her accident -- the singer was forced to cancel a performance in Louisiana due to a "production issue" and announced the news to devastated fans over Instagram.

“I am devastated that tonight’s show cannot take place due to an unexpected venue production issue that we learned about once we arrived -- as you know I’ve been working tirelessly to make this show a memorable experience for you all,” she wrote on Instagram.

Abdul added, “I am looking forward to continuing the tour as planned. You have no idea how excited I am to get on stage for all of you. I love you all so much — thank you!! Xo P,” she added.
