Mariah Carey Reveals Details About New Album

The pop diva has also added 2019 dates to her 'The Butterfly Returns' show at Caesars Palace.

There’s no denying that Mariah Carey loves a 'moment'. Whether it’s a genius moment, a fragrant moment, a diamond moment or even a Friday moment.

Now the singer has announced that she's truly experiencing a Mariah moment as she prepares to release her as yet untitled new record.

“This is a labor of love and I’m really excited,” she told People, adding that she's been working on the project "for a while" now.

“This is me at this moment in my life being able to express myself as a writer and a singer. I’m just really in a good place.”

Carey’s last studio album -- Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse -- was released in 2014.

She says her new record will include some fun, light-hearted bops as well as  more deeply personal tracks.

“My fans just want to hear me express myself and speak from the heart and sing from the heart," she said.

As well as brand new tracks in the works, Carey has announced that she will be extending her Las Vegas moment-- adding 2019 dates to her The Butterfly Returns show at Caesars Palace.

“I’ve been loving it so much,” Carey told People about the show, in which she performs hits from her nearly 30-year long career.

She says she plans to shake up the set list a little for members of her ‘Lambily’ who have made more than one trip to Caesars.

“A lot of the fans who have come out to see it were really happy having a little more diversity,” Carey said.

“I want to make it really impromptu and surprise the people who have come out again and again to see the show.”

Carey has been based in Los Angeles this year while she's working on the record and her Vegas show, but says she prioritises spending quality time with her twins -- Monroe and Moroccan.

“Every time I get a minute off, we go somewhere and try to do something fun,” she told People.

“We’re New Yorkers, but I’ve been living out in L.A. with the kids for a while so they can go outside and play in the yard and go in the pool.”
