Tea: Mariah's 'We Belong Together' Is The Best Ballad Of All Time

You're entitled to your own opinion, I just need you to know that it's incorrect. Sorry!

Hello! Happy weekend, and welcome back to another great TED Talk by ME.

Today, we're headed back to 2005, to discuss the greatest ballad of all time.

Before you say "But what about..." SAVE IT!

Here's the tea: "We Belong Together" is THAT SONG.

After a few rough years, Mariah came back swinging in 2005 with the release of The Emancipation of Mimi. The album had a whopping seven singles released from it, but no song hit as hard as the iconic ballad "We Belong Together".

I get emotional thinking about it.

The song quickly landed at number one in Australia, and was Mimi's 16th number one in America. Its massive success broke records and cemented her comeback as it hung around the top spot for 14 non-consecutive weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Honestly though? It's just a gorgeous song. The production is divine, the story searing and heart wrenching, the breath control and vocals perfection. Needless to say, Mariah HAS THE RANGE.

The song alone went on to be nominated for four Grammys -- she was nominated for eight Grammys that night -- and "We Belong Together" took home two:  "Best R&B Song" and "Best Female R&B Vocal Performance". Billboard named it the "song of the decade", a literal fact.

There's also a bangin' remix which is EQUALLY as good as the original version!
