Are We Out Of The Woods Yet? Justin Timberlake Drops New Single "SoulMate"

"Summer starts now" declares Justin Timberlake, but not everyone is feeling the heat.

It appears Justin Timberlake has found his way out of the woods and back to the mainstream.

After his February album release Man Of The Woods was labelled "painfully bad" and "incoherent" by reviews, it appears the singer has now abandoned his woodsy aesthetic entirely with the surprise release of new single "SoulMate".

"Summer. Starts. Now." declares the singer on the tropical funk bop, but will it be enough to win back the fans who got lost on the way to the woods?

Some have responded well to the radio-friendly track:

But not everyone is feeling the summer vibe:

Meanwhile, others noted that it sounded like a Drake track.

If you also think “SoulMate” sounds like Drake, it could be because the track is co-produced by frequent Drake collaborator Nineteen85, who was behind "Hotline Bling" and "One Dance", along with Timberlake and Nineteen85.

While we're on the topic of Drake, Justin told Complex that the two have been chatting about working together again and releasing a follow up to the track "Cabaret" which appeared on JT's album The 20/20 Experience.

"We’ve talked about [collaborating again] a lot," he said. "I don’t wanna say too much because I don’t wanna jinx it, but we’ve talked about it a lot.”

Still, JT is really feeling the G.O.O.D Music vibes, and took time to praise Drake on his recent Scorpion release: “There’s like two or three tracks on every G.O.O.D. Music release that I really, really am feeling. I love Scorpion, I think it literally just like answered anything. I think The Boy came correct with that one."
