Chris Cornell's Daughter Pays Tribute To Late Singer With Heart-Wrenching Duet

"Happy Father's Day, daddy, nothing compares to you."

Chris Cornell’s daughter, Toni, has paid tribute to the later rocker on Fathers’ Day with a recording of the pair performing Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U', made famous by Sinead O'Connor.

"Daddy, I love you and miss you so much," she wrote in the emotional post. "You were the best father anyone could ask for. Our relationship was so special, and you were always there for me. You gave me courage when I didn't have any. You believed in me when I didn't. I miss your love everyday."

She added, "Recording this song with you was a special and amazing experience I wish I could repeat 100 times over and I know you would too. Happy Father's Day daddy, nothing compares to you. –Toni."

The 55-year-old Audioslave and Soundgarden singer was found unresponsive  in the bathroom of his hotel room at the MGM Grand in Detroit in May 2017, where his death was ruled a suicide.

It’s not the first time 13-year-old Toni had honoured her father via song. A month after his tragic passing, she performed 'Hallelujah' alongside One Republic on Good Morning America, dedicating the performance to both her father and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, who died in July 2017.

Last month, Cornell’s widow and Toni’s mother Vicky held a vigil at Los Angeles cemetery to mark one year since her husband’s death.

"It is with great emotion I reach out to all of you as the one year anniversary of my husband’s passing approaches. Chris was loved, so much, by so many,” she said in a statement. “We would be honoured if you share posts and videos of how Chris' music has touched you. We can feel your love no matter how far. Light a candle, say a prayer, speak his name.”

Along with Toni, Cornell had with son Christopher, 12, with Vicky, and daughter Lily, 18, from a previous relationship.
