Drake Speaks Out On Controversial Blackface Photo

The beef between Drake and Pusha T remains firmly on the grill.

It’s been a wild week in the world of hip hop.

If you’re not currently up to date with the latest in the mud-slinging match between Pusha T and Drake, then take a seat 'cos it’s a doozy.

Basically Pusha T -- who is president of Kanye West's G.O.O.D label -- released his latest album, DAYTONA, last Friday (yep, he's the one that Kanye convinced to use Whitney Houston’s drug-strewn bathroom for the cover art).

Anyway, the album contained a song called Infrared, which was a scathing diss on fellow artist Drake, where he claims he uses a ghost writer rather than penning his own lyrics.

"How could you ever right these wrongs, when you don't even write your songs?" Pusha rapped on the track.

Drake, clearly not a fan of the allegations, hit back just hours later with a track of his own called Duppy Freestyle, where he asserts that Kanye -- Pusha’s label boss -- ALSO uses a ghost writer, saying, "Your brother said it was your cousin then him, then you. So you don't rap what you did, you just rap what you knew," Drake said.

He also claimed that Pusha was attacking his name in order to sell more albums."Tell 'Ye, we got a invoice comin' to you, considering that we just sold another 20 for you," he rapped.

He accompanied the release of the track with an invoice to the G.O.O.D label for a whopping $100,000 for "reviving their career".

Not one to take all this lying down, Pusha T came out with all guns blazing in the form of a track called The Story of Adidon, where he claimed Drake had fathered a secret child with porn star Sophie Brussaux. The cover art for the track also featured a shocking image of Drake donning blackface.

Drake, facing growing criticism over the image, has today come out with the below statement about the photograph, saying it was taken in 2007 and was meant to “represent how African Americans were once wrongfully portrayed in entertainment.”

Fans across social media are majorly divided on the entire mess, with many flat out rejecting his 'apology'.

Curiously enough, at the time of writing there's been no comment from Drake's camp regarding accusations of the singer fathering a 'secret' child.

Stay tuned.
