Kanye West Is Using Whitney Houston's Drug Bathroom As An Album Cover
Kanye believe it?
If you thought Kanye West’s antics couldn’t get any more bizarre, then strap yourselves in friends, 'cos his latest stunt is an absolute doozy.
According to rapper Pusha-T, West has apparently dropped a whopping $112,000 for the license to use an image of Whitney Houston’s drug-riddled bathroom as the cover art for Pusha’s latest album, Daytona.
Speaking to Angie Martinez on Consequence of Sound, Pusha spilled that Ye -- who is producing the album -- scrapped the original artwork at the last second in favour of the grim snap, which depicts the late singer’s bathroom littered with alcohol and drug paraphernalia.
“One a.m., my phone rings. No caller ID. [He says,] ‘Hey, yeah, I think we should change the artwork. And I like this other artwork. And this other artwork is 85 grand [$AU112,000] … this what people need to see to go with this music. I’ma pay for that,'” he said.
Needless to say, West’s latest artistic statement has ruffled some feathers, with fans slamming the muso for being ‘disrespectful’ to the late superstar, who was found dead in a bathtub at The Beverly Hilton hotel in 2012.
It's not the first time Yeezy has poked the proverbial bear when it comes to album covers, with the Famous rapper revealing in a flurry of Tweets back in April that he intended to use an image of Dr. Jan Adams -- aka the doctor who performed surgery on his mother, Donda West, before her sudden death in 2007 -- as the cover of his forthcoming album.
Daytona by Pusha T is out May 26 … If you’re into that.
