Jake Gyllenhaal Finally Joined Instagram So He Could Dish About 'Spider-Man'

Jake Gyllenhaal has used his social media debut to make an important announcement about the new 'Spider-Man' movie.

There have been rumours surrounding Gyllenhaal's involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home film which will star Tom Holland in the titular role.

But Gyllenhaal decided to create a dramatic Instagram vignette to let fans know that he'll be playing Marvel super villain, Mysterio.

In his home movie, Gyllenhaal is pictured reading The Amazing Spider-Man #311 -- an issue from 1989 that features 'the return of the man called Mysterio'.

Gyllenhaal theatrically reveals himself behind the comic book with furrowed brows, before exclaiming, "Whoa. What the f***!"

"I just realised I'm not playing Spider-Man," the actor wrote as the caption on his first Instagram post.

Gyllenhaal has already amassed over 200, 000 followers in just a few hours -- including Frank Ocean, Beyoncé and Zendaya.

Ryan Reynolds also weighed in on the casting news -- writing under Jake's post that he too just realised he's not playing Spider-Man.

We're just hoping Gyllenhaal will now create Instagram videos to reveal all of his film roles from now on.
