Bradley Cooper Cast His Own Diva Dog In ‘A Star Is Born’

Bradley Cooper has revealed that fame went straight to his dog Charlie’s head after being cast in ‘A Star Was Born’.

Cooper first decided to write Charlie into the script to make sure there was some real on-screen chemistry.

“There was no nepotism -- I wanted this relationship with the dog,” Cooper told People.

Cooper’s adorable dog Charlie steals the show as the pet shared by Ally (played by Lady Gaga) and Jackson (Cooper).

“[Jackson and Ally] don’t have a child together but they have a dog together, and I wanted it to be part of their story," said Cooper.

"I love dogs.”

Charlie was named after Cooper's late father, so his appearance in the film "meant a lot" to the actor and first time director.

Cooper has taken a chance on a few non-actors in A Star Is Born -- casting his grad school friend Gabe Fazio in the film as well as his actual doctor.

“My ear doctor is the doctor in the movie, Dr. Slattery … so why not Charlie?” reasoned Cooper.

A Star Is Born hits Australian cinemas on October 18.
