Watch Ryan Gosling Take One Giant Leap In First Man Trailer

That's one small step for man, one giant leap to the cinema.

When Ryan Gosling was cast in a biopic about Neil Armstrong and his historic trip to the moon, all of Ryan's friends were probably like "You're going to rocket". Get it? Rocket? Rock it? A classic.

From La La Land and Whiplash writer and director Damien Chazelle comes First Man, a new film that follows Armstrong as he weighs up the pros and cons of making the journey.

The film stars Gosling as Armstrong alongside Claire Foy as his wife Janet Shearon, Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin, Jason Clarke as Ed White, Kyle Chandler as Deke Slayton and The Moon as herself.

The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival's opening gala on Wednesday, with an pretty positive critical response across the world. The last time Chazelle was at Venice, he was debuting La La Land, for which he went on to win the Academy Award for Best Director.

First Man is based on James R Hansen's book of the same name, was written by Josh Singer, and is scheduled to blast off into cinemas in October.
