Christina Ricci Reflects On "Glory Days" As A Child Star

Christina Ricci is 38 now. Feel old yet?

In the '90s, Christina Ricci was THE 'It' girl of child superstardom. From Casper, to the Addams Family films, to Now & Then and beyond, Christina was everywhere.

While growing up in the spotlight seems to have taken a toll on so many child stars before and after her, Ricci wouldn't have done anything differently.

In a new interview with People, the actress -- now 38 -- spoke about child  superstardom and reflected on some of her most iconic roles.

“I loved working. I loved being a kid who had a talent,” she said. “I loved being good at something. I loved all that positive reinforcement I got every day. I loved getting to use my imagination in a way that really created things. It was incredible to be able to do that so young.”

Although she couldn't pick a favourite from her catalogue of iconic roles, she did say that she had some "incredible experiences" working on some of the biggest flicks of our childhoods.

“I have to say The Addams Family movies were two really, really — they were like glory days for me as a 10 and 12-year-old," she said. “Those were great movies to be on.”

It's a fandom that keeps on giving, too.

“People like to show me pictures of themselves or others dressed up as me,” she said, not only of her portrayal as Wednesday, but other roles she's played over the years, too.

“Keep it coming! I think it’s great. I couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of creating a character who just lives on so strongly. It surprises me!”

Of course, it's also hard to go past working with literal living legend and icon extraordinaire, the one and only Cher.

Back in 1990, Ricci's very first film role was in Mermaids alongside the Academy Award winner.

“She was so open and so incredibly kind and generous,” Ricci said. “I learned a ton from her. I could ask her directly, ‘How do you do it? How do you make yourself cry?’ And she would try to help me learn how to do it. She was great.”
