Heartbroken Soap Stars And Fans Pay Tribute To Kristoff St. John

Soap stars including Katherine Kelly Lang have paid tribute to 'The Young And The Restless Star' who has died age 52.

St. John's attorney confirmed that the actor had died at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday, CBS reported.

The daytime soap veteran -- who joined The Young And The Restless back in 1991 -- has been remembered by co-stars as a "kind" and "generous" man who paved the way for a whole generation of black actors.

Katherine Kelly Lang said she learnt the sad news of St. John's passing after her short stint on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.

"The first news I heard when I got out of the jungle today was about the passing of a dear friend and colleague, Kristoff," said the Bold And The Beautiful actor.

"My heart is broken," she added. "Sending lots of love and strength to his family and loved ones".

Former Bold And The Beautiful star Rome Flynn wrote on Twitter that St. John had been an important mentor to him and taught him the importance of "representation & the responsibility I didn't know I had as POC on daytime television".

"He pushed me to be bold in my choices during my tenure with The Bold And The Beautiful," Flynn wrote.

Soap actors from The Young And The Restless including Kate Linder, Doug Davidson, Sharon Case and Lauralee Bell have also paid tribute to St. John, sharing their favourite memories about their time with him.

St. John was best known for portraying Neil Winters on Young And The Restless, with the role earning him two Daytime Emmy Awards in 1992 and 2008.

The 52-year-old actor also appeared in Roots: The Next Generations, with co-star Stan Shaw fondly remembering the time they shared on screen.

Fans are similarly heartbroken by the loss of St. John and have posted on social media about the significant impact the actor had on their lives.

No cause of death has been revealed, with an autopsy set to take place on Monday, according to the medical examiner's office.
