Britney's Impact! Everyone Is Doing Vegas Residencies

Christina, Cardi and Drake, oh my!

Remember back in 1998 when Britney Spears made emails popular with her song "E-Mail My Heart?"*

Well, OOPS, she did it again.

After her incredibly successful Las Vegas residency Piece of Me, which ran for four years, Britney was credited with having a "profound effect on pop star residencies in Vegas".

"Formerly the preserve of older artists seeking one last big pay cheque, Spears... proved that residencies featuring contemporary artists can be just as profitable for venues," wrote The Independent.

Forbes echoed this sentiment, writing:

The legacy Spears leaves is much larger than money, even though the final total she’s likely responsible for is massive. Money comes and goes, especially in a city like Vegas, but the "Womanizer” singer has changed one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world for good, and it's impossible to attach a price tag to that kind of revolution.

Following Britney's lead came the residencies of J-Lo, the Backstreet Boys, Mariah Carey and Pitbull, and now we have Lady Gaga, Drake, Cardi B, and as of this morning, Christina Aguilera.

Announcing the news with new promo shots of herself wearing a mask of crystals, The Xperience is set to open on May 31 at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood.

Stopping by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to chat about it, she said she was "so excited" to hit up the Vegas strip, adding: “I still want to see my fans all over, but how much easier for everyone to come to one place and fill the venue with fantasy and love and excitement?”

Basically? With so much talent in one spot, there's never been a better time to visit Vegas, and we have Britney Spears to thank for it!
