Neil Degrasse Tyson Has Been Accused Of Sexual Misconduct

The celebrity astrophysicist and host of the cable TV show 'Cosmos' has now been accused by three women of sexual misconduct.

The most recent allegations -- published by the website Patheos  -- have been made by an astronomy academic at Bucknell University, and a former assistant of deGrasse Tyson's.

The first allegation against deGrasse Tyson was made last year by musician Tchiya Amet -- who alleged that he raped her when they were graduate students in 1984. There were no prosecutions

The producers of Cosmos have since released a statement, noting that they are investigating the claims made against deGrasse Tyson.

“The credo at the heart of ‘Cosmos’ is to follow the evidence wherever it leads,” the statement reads.

“The producers of ‘Cosmos’ can do no less in this situation.  We are committed to a thorough investigation of this matter and to act accordingly as soon as it is concluded.”

The science documentary airs on the Fox network in the United States. Fox Broadcasting has also released a statement on the allegations made against deGrasse Tyson.

"We have only just become aware of the recent allegations regarding Neil deGrasse Tyson. We take these matters very seriously and we are reviewing the recent reports.”

deGrasse is yet to comment on the allegations.
