Sarah Michelle Gellar Apologises For 'Fat-Shaming' Insta Post

Sarah Michelle Gellar has apologised after coming under fire from fans for a 'fat-shaming' Thanksgiving post on Instagram.

The Buffy, the Vampire Slayer actress posted a series of throwback images from a lingerie photoshoot, captioning it:

I’m just going to pin these up all over my house as a reminder not to overeat on Thursday #thanksgivingprep

The star then came under fire from fans, who accused her of having a 'fat-shaming' attitude.

SMG addressed the criticism in the comments, writing:

“It’s come to my attention that some people think I was ‘fat-shaming’ with this post. That could not be further from my intentions. I love Thanksgiving and unfortunately my eyes are often bigger than my stomach, and I tend to eat so much I make myself sick.

This was a joking reminder to myself not to do that. I’m terribly sorry that people were offended by my attempt at humour. Any one that knows me, knows I would never intentionally ‘shame’ any one on any basis. I am a champion of all people.”

Her fans are now duking it out in the comments, debating whether or not Sarah needed to apologise in the first place. You can check it out if you feel like getting messy, but for us, it's time to log off and carry on living our lives!
