Lil Xan Is Headed To Rehab
In the wake of his friend and idol Mac Miller's death back in September, rapper Lil Xan has decided to check into a rehab facility.
Lil Xan -- real name Diego Leanos -- named his rap persona after the very addictive benzodiazepine Xanax, but the 22-year-old has been open about his struggles with addiction and desire to get clean.
After his friend and fellow rapper Mac Miller died from an overdose in September, Lil Xan shared that he was considering rehab.
"I want to get sober now, completely sober, but it's so hard. I just want to be off everything," he shared at the time. "I want to be like a normal person.... if I didn't have a tour coming up I would be in rehab right now."
Since then, Xan's been working on a Mac Miller tribute album, which he said he'll finish recording once he's sober.
Speaking to TMZ Live, Xan said that although his addiction has been "way worse" in the past and he's not currently near "rock bottom", he still needed to help to make it through the final stretch of getting clean.
“I’ve actually been ten times worse than what I am now. But I want to do rehab so I can get over this last little, like, hump -- like, stretch -- so I can finally get back to being Diego," he said.
The news comes shortly after the one-year anniversary of his fellow Soundcloud rapper Lil Peep's fatal overdose.
Lil Xan's new EP, Xanarchy Militia has just dropped on Soundcloud, and Lil Peep's post-humous album Come Over When You're Sober Pt 2 is now streaming also.
