Ariana Grande Named Billboard's 2018 Woman Of The Year
It's been a rough few weeks for Ariana, but Billboard is recognising the incredible artist for her smashing year on the charts.
Yep, she may be just weeks out of her messy break-up with Pete Davidson, but following the release of "thank u, next", the iconic break-up anthem we didn't even know we needed, Ariana Grande is getting another honour.
Billboard announced this week that they would be crowning Ariana their 2018 Woman of the Year, an award that will be presented to her next month at the 13th annual Women in Music dinner and awards gala in New York.
Previous winners include Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Pink, Katy Perry (???), Fergie (????) and Beyoncé. The first award was given out in 2007 to country star Reba McEntire.
Billboard's VP of content, Ross Scarano, called Ariana "a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry".
"She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year," he continued.
The award comes fresh off the heels of "thank u, next" raking in over 9 million streams in its first 24 hours, breaking streaming records and topping the global and US Spotify charts.
To be honest though, Ari deserves the award for this tweet alone:
