Demi Lovato’s Mum Says Demi Is 90 Days Sober

Dianna De La Garza has shared an update on her daughter Demi Lovato’s journey to recovery, three months after she was hospitalised for a reported drug overdose.

De La Garza has confirmed that Demi has been sober for 90 days and is working hard on her health.

"She has 90 days and I couldn't be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction, being a disease, is work," she told Maria Menounos on Sirius XM radio.

"It's very hard and there are no short cuts," she added.

The singer's mother was asked if there was a known cause of Demi's relapse in July but replied that she “can't really say for sure”.

"It can be any number of reasons,” she said. “We lost five close members of our family in one year while I was writing the book, my grandfather, my grandmother, two uncles. We lost five people just in a span of a few months."

Lovato wrote to her fans in August about her journey with addiction and said her illness is "not something that disappears or fades after time".

"It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet," she wrote on Instagram.
