Lana Del Rey Speaks Out On Her Stalker's Sentencing

Michael Shawn Hunt, who was convicted of stalking singer Lana Del Rey, was sentenced to a year in prison after taking a plea deal.

Following the verdict, Lana Del Rey spoke out via Twitter on Friday addressing the news.

Posting a screenshot of the article, she captioned the image:

"Alsoooo…If you bring weapons to the show with plans to use them and ur posting about it -the police will probably know about it before I do like they did in Orlando" and later adding "I’m just saying bringing weapons into the mix is on another level."

Hunt, 43, was arrested with a knife outside the singer's Orlando show in February this year. He pleaded no contest to a stalking and weapons charges, while the aggravated stalking charges against him were later dropped.

Following his arrest, Del Rey told fans at her Atlanta show:

"I am actually just feeling a little more emotional than I thought after what happened in Orlando, but I just really wanted to be here with you guys tonight. And actually I was feeling totally fine, and then just got, I don’t know, a little bit nervous when I got on stage. So I just want to say that I am super happy to be with you guys, and if I’m a little bit feathery, just bear with me.”

Police had been alerted to Hunt after he made several "cryptic and threatening" posts on his personal Facebook page in the days leading up the concert.

“I want to see my queen on Friday and from that day forward our decisions will be as one,” he reportedly wrote on Jan 30.

“I’m going to probably finish out her tour with her, obviously, and dance and talk and figure out what we’re going to do,” he said in a video posted to his page at the time, while an apparent friend of Hunt wrote, “Wow, I’m so happy for you Michael Hunt. I hope she makes you happy when you finally stalk her down and get your hands on her!” she wrote.

It's not the first time Lana has dealt with a stalker -- on January 16, another fan was jailed after breaking into her home and posting images to social media from her balcony.

Lana was also forced to take out a restraining order on two Russian fans threatened her that same month. As well as this, a fan was also arrested in 2015 for stealing two of the singer's cars, while another obsessed fan was found sleeping in her garage just days prior.
