Pete Davidson Slams Chevy Chase As 'Genuinely Bad, Racist'

It’s been rumoured that actor Chevy Chase is notoriously difficult to work with, and Pete Davidson seems to have confirmed those whispers after taking aim at the Saturday Night Live alum.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, where he also for some reason told us he was "jerking off to [fiancé Ariana Grande] before I met her,” SNL star Pete Davidson also didn’t hold back when it came to his thoughts on Chase.

“He’s a fucking douchebag,” Davidson said of the 74-year-old actor. “Fuck Chevy Chase. He’s just a genuinely bad, racist person and I don’t like him. He’s a putz.”

Following Chase’s comments in The Washington Post where he said SNL “went downhill” after its first two seasons, Pete came out swinging in defence of his boss, creator Lorne Michaels.

"What has he done since ’83? Nothing," Davidson said. "He had a big career and then it stopped because everybody realized he’s a jerkoff. He should know more than anybody."

“It’s disrespectful to Lorne, too, a guy who gave you a career,” he continued., “No matter how big you get, you can’t forget what that guy did for you.”

The revelation follows on from The New Yorker’s profile on Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino), who told the publication that his Community co-star Chase would “often” disrupt Glover’s scenes with racist jokes.

“People think you’re funnier because you’re black,” Chase reportedly said during a shoot.

Community creator Dan Harmon seemed to echo Glover’s claim, saying, “Chevy was the first to realise how immensely gifted Donald was, and the way he expressed his jealousy was to try to throw Donald off.”

“I remember apologising to Donald after a particularly rough night of Chevy’s non-P.C. verbiage, and Donald said, ‘I don’t even worry about it.’”

Chase responded to Glover’s accusations by telling The New Yorker, “I am saddened to hear that Donald perceived me in that light.”
