Ariana Grande's Heartbreaking Message To Mac Miller
“I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away."
Ariana Grande has written a heartbreaking letter to her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, one week after it was announced the 26-year-old rapper had died from a reported overdose.
Grande posted a candid video of Miller on Instagram and has written an emotional post about losing her “dearest friend”.
The No Tears Left To Cry singer wrote that she “adored” Miller from the day she met him at age 19 and “always will”.
“I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore,” she wrote.
“I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do. You were my dearest friend. For so long. Above anything else.”
Grande and Miller first connected in 2012, when they recorded a duet of Baby, It’s Cold Outside and officially started dating in 2016.
Mac Miller openly shared his struggles with addiction and Grande was reportedly “unbelievably involved” in supporting his journey to stay sober.
“I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away,” Grande’s Instagram post continued.
“I really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest.”
The comments on the post have been disabled following the torrent of online abuse that Ari has received in the past week with some Mac Miller fans blaming the rapper’s tragic death on Grande.
Grande's brother Frankie has also memorialised Miller on Instagram, paying tribute to his friend.
"I am beyond heartbroken over Malcolm’s death. He was a good friend and was wonderful to my sister," Frankie wrote alongside a black and white photo of Miller.
Ari's older brother added that the rapper had helped him with his own struggles with substance abuse.
"He was the reason I went to the rehabilitation centre where I was detoxed safely from all of the drugs alcohol and medications I was taking, when I couldn’t imagine living without them," Frankie said.
