'It Worked!': Ryan Gosling Visits Toronto Cafe After Social Media Campaign
The actor was in town for the Toronto International Film Festival.
An internet campaign to have everyone’s fave hunk Ryan Gosling visit a Toronto coffee shop has finally come to fruition, much to the delight of the staff and patrons.
With the actor in town for the 43rd annual Toronto International Film Festival, coffee shop Grinder Coffee campaigned ahead of the event using the hashtag #ryanneedsgrinder to get the star’s attention, on the off chance he might pop in for a cuppa.
Their prayers were answered on Tuesday when the La La Land star noticed the tags and decided to drop by following the premiere of his latest flick, First Man, in which he plays astronaut Neil Armstrong.
Café owner Joelle Murray says she was overjoyed when the Hollywood hottie came into her shop and made time to greet the staff and customers.
“He made it seem that he enjoyed meeting me as much as I enjoyed meeting him,” she told Global News Canada, adding, “And it was a lovely feeling. He was very well-spoken, a wonderful Canadian boy with very good manners.”
Apparently, it was the 37-year-old actor’s mother (and date to the festival), Donna, who convinced him to visit after he first noticed the posts.
It’s not the first time the coffee joint has tried to get a celebrity to stop by during the Toronto Film Festival -- last year, they tried to convince Idris Elba to stop by, but unfortunately, it wasn't successful.
