Celebrities React To Mac Miller's Death

Tributes for the late rapper have started pouring in.

Twitter has been flooded with tributes from celebrities and musicians following American rapper Mac Miller's death on Friday September 8.

The 26-year-old passed away at his home in San Fernando Valley, California, according to initial reports from TMZ.

Miller's attorney David Byrnes has since formally confirmed the rapper's death, and his family also released a statement late on Friday evening calling him a “bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans,” according to the New York Times.

The family, which includes Miller's mother, father and brother, have asked for privacy and said it had “no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”

Many of the rapper's contemporaries have taken to social media to share their kind words and condolences.

Miller, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and began his rap career at aged 14.

He released his first studio album, Blue Slide Park, in November 2011 only to have it debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

Miller had just released his fifth album, Swimming, in early August and was expected to embark on a tour in October before his untimely passing.

The rapper was also known for his high-profile relationship with pop singer Ariana Grande. The pair dated for two years before splitting in April 2018.
