Chris Hemsworth Proves He's A Superhero Dad Too
Who needs an Oscar when you have a First Place sticker?
If you weren't in love with Chris Hemsworth already, well, then prepare to join a rapidly growing club.
Thor himself sat down with GQ Magazine as the cover for its September issue where he really opened up about playing a superhero -- both on screen and at home.
The profile interview tracks Hemsworth as he became more comfortable in discovering what kind of space he occupies in Hollywood. Initially trying to fill the role of the "bad boy", Hemsworth has settled into what GQ refer to as "post-hunk".
Part of the 35-year-old's charm comes from the very authentic love of his family, and him vowing to keep his kid's privacy and not selling out.
In 2014, Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky relocated down under to escape Hollywood's relentless paps and invasive lifestyle to give their three kids -- India Rose and the twins Tristan and Sasha -- a chance to grow up without cameras constantly in their faces.
The Thor: Ragnarok star then weighed up how to navigate the newer spaces, like posting pics of the kids to social media.
"The social media side of it is just trying to work out: How do you keep up with the times? You see that Sylvester Stallone has an Instagram account, and you kind of go, 'This is the world we're in'."
Ragnarok director Taika Waititi weighed in, saying Hemsworth's desire to share moments with his kids is entirely genuine.
"In the few and rare times that he does," Waititi said, "it's genuine. It's, 'Here's this amazing moment when my daughter was surfing!'"
Hemsworth also revealed one of the best moments of fatherhood was a "Running of the Dads" race at his daughter's school where he had to flex his Avengers muscles and came out on top.
"There was just this wave of nirvana. I turn around, and I go, 'Where's my daughter? Where is she?' And she's like, 'Dad, did you win?' And I'm like, 'Did I win? You didn't see it?!' They gave me a sticker. A first-place sticker."
Patakay added that she had never seen Hemsworth so excited, "Not even about getting a big job".
"It was probably one of the best things that has happened to him in his life, which is funny, right?"
