Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine Reportedly Hospitalised After Being Kidnapped And Robbed
Some are calling the events into question as a possible publicity stunt for his recent single.
Daniel Hernandez, known better by his professional name Tekashi 6ix9ine, was hospitalised after reportedly being pistol whipped, kidnapped and robbed by gunmen.
According to TMZ Tekashi told law enforcement that around 4.25am two men approached a car he was in at a red light, dragging the 22-year-old rapper into their vehicle.
He was allegedly driven to his home where he called someone inside, asking them to bring his jewellery downstairs. Numbers vary however it's estimated the gunmen made off with around $750k worth of jewellery and between $15 - $20k worth of cash.
The rapper was reportedly able to make his escape from the vehicle where he proceeded to check himself into hospital after reporting the kidnapping to authorities. TMZ note he has since become uncooperative with police.
There are photos circulating on social media of Tekashi in a hospital bed with injuries to his face including a swollen cheekbone.
Despite Tekashi's version of events there are some sites reporting contradictory details such as the gunmen pistol whipping the rapper. Since the incident came to light many have claimed he could be exaggerating or embellishing details in order to promote his recent single "FEFE" with Nicki Minaj, which was released hours before the alleged incident.
This isn't the first time the rapper has been embroiled in controversy.
In 2015 Tekashi pleaded guilty to three felony counts of the use of a child in a sexual performance after he posted videos online with a 13-year-old girl, though the rapper denied allegations of wrongdoing.
In 2017 the rapper was arrested in New York for an outstanding warrant for choking a 16-year-old after the teen began filming him on his phone.
