Amazon Studios Sign First-Look Deal With Nicole Kidman

Her production company, Blossom Films, has signed on to develop projects for Amazon Studios.

Amazon Studios announced on Thursday that they had signed a first-look deal with Nicole Kidman and her production company Blossom Films.

The deal comes off the back of Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, announcing at a recent Q&A that Amazon had plans to secure top talent in deals that would cross TV and feature films.

The studio also recently announced a first-look TV deal with Get Out director Jordan Peele.

The deal with Kidman spans TV, feature theatrical films and digital content with a focus on original series available on Amazon's Prime Video platform.

Prime Video launched quietly in Australia back in 2016, and has slowly built up an Aussie content library still outmatched by local rival Stan and global monolith Netflix.

"Nicole is a force of nature as both an actress and a producer," Salk said in a statement.

Kidman also said she was excited to begin working with the Amazon adding, "Our goal at Blossom Films is to create important and entertaining content across multiple platforms".

Blossom Films was founded in 2010 by Kidman and has produced several feature films -- the first of which, Rabbit Hole, saw Kidman nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Actress.

Blossom also co-produces HBO's Big Little Lies alongside Reese Witherspoon's company Pacific Standard. The first season saw Kidman win an Emmy, SAG Award and a Golden Globe for her role.

Big Little Lies returns for its second season in 2019.
