Hannah Gadsby's New World Tour To Premiere In Melbourne

Hannah Gadsby has a brand new show -- and it's named after her beloved dog, Douglas.

Douglas will be the Tasmanian-born comedian's 11th standup show -- following the hugely successful Nanette that won fans around the world after it was picked up by Netflix.

The new tour will start in Melbourne at the end of March, followed by dates in 13 US cities including San Francisco, Austin, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Gadsby had previously said that she'd quit comedy -- but explained to The Hollywood Reporter why that decision changed after Nanette turned her life upside down.

"I feel like I had every opportunity thrown at me at once [after Nanette]," she said.

"Everyone wanted a piece of this pie, so to speak. And I thought after some time that perhaps my best next move would be to do something that is what I'm really good at (laughing). "

According to Gadsby's website, while Nanette was a "random barista", Douglas is a "very specific dog".

"And the only thing they have in common is they’ve inspired Hannah to put pen to paper and turn out a show you couldn’t possibly expect," the description reads.

Gadsby's two dogs -- Jasper and Douglas -- were featured in the intro and outro of Nanette. But only Douglas has received the honour of having a comedy special named after him, the lucky little pup. Look at those eyes!

Gadsby will perform at the Arts Centre Melbourne between March 27- April 7. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale on Thursday February 7, and general public tickets on Wednesday February 13 via Gadsby's website.
