Barack Obama Has Revealed His Fave Songs, Movies And Books Of 2018
The former president has been jamming to Cardi B, watching 'Black Panther' and poring over the work of Zadie Smith this year.
Obama's carefully curated annual list not only reminds us of his very fine taste but also means our summer listening/watching/reading list is fully sorted.
"As 2018 draws to a close, I’m continuing a favourite tradition of mine and sharing my year-end lists," Obama wrote on Facebook.
"It gives me a moment to pause and reflect on the year through the books, movies, and music that I found most thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain loved," he said.
The Tracks That Obama Has Been Bopping Along To This Year
Beyonce and Jay-Z's track "Apes***" is sitting at the top of Obama's virtual mixtape. The list is alphabetical but we like to think The Carters would have received top billing anyway.
Texan blues artist -- and Obama favourite -- Leon Bridges is next with "Bad Bad News" and Janelle Monae ("Make Me Feel"), Kurt Vile ("One Trick Ponies"), Cardi B ("I Like It") and Chance The Rapper ("My Own Thing") have all made the prestigious list.
Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett was also on high rotation in the Obama household with her track "Need A Little Time". It proves Barack is a massive Barnett stan -- she was also named on his 2016 summer playlist.

This Is What The Obamas Were Watching In 2018
If you've been agonising over what to download or catch at the movies this summer -- Obama has you covered with this gorgeous list of cinematic masterpieces.
He was a big fan of Marvel epic Black Panther, Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman and Moonlight creator Barry Jenkins' latest flick, If Beale Street Could Talk.
And you can go ahead and pop Annihilation, Blindspotting, Burning, The Death Of Stalin, Eighth Grade, Leave No Trace, Minding The Gap, The Rider, Roma, Shoplifters, Support The Girls and Won't You Be My Neighbour on your 'Must Watch' list because they too are OBAMA APPROVED.
Your Summer Reading List, Curated By Obama
You can probably guess what's sitting at the top of Barack's literary faves from the year of 2018 -- Michelle Obama's Becoming.
"Obviously my favourite!" the former chief of the US proudly wrote of his wife's tremendous tome.
Obama is clearly a voracious reader, with a bit more time on his hands than when he was running the US of A. He enjoyed Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Educated by Tara Westover, How Democracies Die by Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblett, The Return by Hisham Matar and Feel Free by Zadie Smith.
The former POTUS said the lists were a chance to share the bounty of talent bursting forth from these artists, writers and storytellers with the world.
"I hope you enjoy reading, watching, and listening," he said.
