Fans Outraged As Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Attend Same Comic-Con Panel

The former flames narrowly missed each other as they appeared on the Warner Bros. panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at a panel during San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, and while fans were delighted by the actor's attendance, we're not so sure ex-wife Amber Heard -- who appeared on the same panel an hour later -- would say the same.

In what many deemed as inappropriate, considering Heard's domestic violence allegations towards her former husband, Depp appeared as his  Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald character, Gellert Grindelwald.

"The great gift of your applause is not for me but for yourselves," Depp said in his character's English accent, waving a wand over the audience.

"Magic blooms only in rare souls. It is granted to those who live for higher purposes. What a world we would make for all of humanity. We, who live for freedom, for truth — the moment has come to rise up an take our rightful place in the world."

While the former flames aren't believed to have run into each other directly at the event, both appeared on the Warner Bros. panel as they showcased their upcoming film slate, which included Amber’s Aquaman and Johnny’s Fantastic Beasts.

Fans were quick to voice their anger over the 55-year-old's appearance over social media, labelling the move as "insensitive" and "rude".

"I wish I could say I c a n n o t believe someone would allow Johnny Depp to be at sdcc when amber heard rightfully is there, but I’m really not surprised at this point. This is ABSOLUTELY one of the shittiest things you could ever do to a person. repulsive. Amber, I love you. (sic)," one user posted on Twitter.

Others came to the star's defence, saying:

"I'm just gonna say it Amber Heard ACCUSED Johnny Depp of domestic abuse. Charges were dropped. No trial. No chance to prove guilt or innocence. Only they know what happened. Both are at ComicCon as part of their jobs. Sure both were fully aware of this & are being professionals."

The drama follows Amber having a temporary restraining order issued towards Depp in 2016, after she claimed he abused her. Though the 32 year old later reportedly withdrew her domestic violence restraining order petition after the couple came to a financial agreement.

Depp and Heard met in 2009 after appearing in The Rum Diary together, but were not romantically linked until June 2012, when Depp split from Vanessa Paradis, his partner of 14 years.

The pair was married for a little over a year before she filed for divorce in May 2016.
