Ariana Confirms That Yep She And Pete Are Still Gettin' Hitched In First Post-Engagement Performance
Plus 11 other celebs who couldn't wait to say 'I do.'
What a journey we have been on with Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson of late. It's been a journey of love and surprises. But mostly surprises. BIG surprises.
Here's a quick -- and we mean quick because, ya know, these two like to move at warp speed -- wrap up of their whirlwind relationship: they both broke up with their significant others at the start of May this year. Sad.
By the end of May Ari and SNL cast-member Pete were not only dating but they were reportedly engaged. Yay!?
Neither have formally announced their happy/mind-boggling news but the receipts are all there: Instagram posts, matching tattoos -- plus she's got the bling to prove it.
This all went down over a matter of weeks. Wild, hey?
If you've spent the last few days shouting 'it won't last, IT CANNOT LAST' then here us now: the pop star has taken the stage for her first post-engagement performance and oh yeah that hefty ring is still firmly on her finger.
It was hard to miss the "Side To Side" singer's enormous sparkler -- worth a reported $100,000 -- when she sang at the Songwriters Hall of Fame 49th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner in New York on June 14.
The ring. We have so many thoughts, feelings and crazed conspiracy theories about this ring. But that's to be discussed at another time and place, most likely therapy.
Now is the time to look to the future because these young babes -- they're both 24-years-old -- are actually totally probably going to get married. And look, they're not the first pair of giddy lovers to get engaged -- then tie the knot -- in the blink of an eye.
Britney Spears paved the way back in 2004 -- were Ari and Pete even born then? -- when she married childhood pal Jason Alexander in a spontaneous Las Vegas ceremony. The blessed union only lasted 55 hours before it was annulled but hey what happens in Vegas ...
For the millennial pair's sake we've wrapped up the speediest celeb engagements -- and equally swift weddings -- of recent years. For these stars coupling up was more a sprint than a marathon so hold on tight.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom
Engaged for: a few days.
The reality star and the NBA player shocked everyone -- including momager Kris Jenner -- when they got engaged just a month after they started dating in 2009. They were married just a few days later in LA but it wasn't to last -- Khloe filed for divorce in 2013.
Emily Ratajkowski and Sebastian Bear-McLard
Engaged for: we're not sure but we bet it was less than a month.
Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski pulled a fast one on all of us when she casually posted a few photos of herself and her new hubby (!!!) on Instagram. “I got married today,” she captioned one of the effortlessly-chic pics. The brunette beauty, 23, tied the knot with Sebastian Bear-McLard, also an actor, in a quick civil ceremony at City Hall in New York City on February 23.
Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder
Engaged for: four months.
The ridiculously good-looking pair first started dating in mid-2014 and were engaged the following January. Nikki and Ian made their love official just four months after that in April 2015. The actor couple share daughter Bodhi who was born in August 2017.
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
Engaged for: 17 days.
Cameron and Good Charlotte's Benji coupled up in May of 2014 and he'd popped the question by December that same year. The two were married at her Beverly Hills home after a 17-day engagement. The unexpected couple -- she an A-list actor and he a grungy musician -- are still loved up to this day.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
Engaged for: 90 days.
Kim and NBA star Kris met in 2010 and were engaged in May the following year. Just 90 days later the perfectly-named pair said 'I do' in a ridiculously expensive televised ceremony. Their marriage lasted 72 days before Kim filed for divorce.
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer
Engaged for: who knows!? A week?
Just days after debuting their romance on Instagram, comedian and actor Amy Schumer, 36, and Chris Fischer, a chef, said 'I do' in Malibu on February 14. Thanks for the warning, guys! The super-private beachside ceremony was attended by the couple's close friends and family -- yes that included ultimate wedding guest Jennifer Lawrence. We're so jealous.
Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna
Engaged for: four months.
These Kardashians like to move fast. Kim and Khloe's brother Rob asked girlfriend model Blac Chyna to marry him after four months of dating in 2016. The couple welcomed daughter Dream later that same year but the pair broke off their engagement that December.
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin
Engaged for: five months.
The Cloonester asked human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin to be his wife after just six months of dating in April 2014 . They were engaged for a short five months before they tied the knot in a private ceremony in Italy. In June 2017 twins Ella and Alexander came along and the cute family is going strong to this day.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
Engaged for: six weeks.
Mariah and Nick were married six short weeks after meeting on the shoot for her "Bye Bye" music video on a Caribbean island in March of 2008. They welcomed twins, Moroccan and Monroe, in 2011 but divorced three years later.
Mariah Carey and James Packer
Engaged for: nine months.
The "Dreamlover" singer and billionaire Aussie James left the entire world speechless when they announced they were engaged in January 2016. Alas, the couple never made it down the aisle as they called it quits in October that same year.
Chanel Iman and Sterling Shepard
Engaged for: four months.
Model Chanel Iman, 27, and NFL player Sterling Shepard, 24, clearly couldn't wait to become husband and wife. They tied the knot at the Beverly Hills Hotel in March 2018, just four months after getting engaged. Iman and Shepard announced they were expecting their first child on Instagram on May 14. They sure love surprises!
