Rose McGowan Indicted On Cocaine Charges, Says Harvey Weinstein May Be Behind It

Rose denies the allegations.

Rose McGowan has today been indicted for possession of a controlled substance in Loudoun County, Virginia, according to TMZ.

It comes following an ongoing case from January 2017 when police found several small bags of cocaine in a wallet McGowan had left behind on a flight at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Rose's booking photo from November 14, 2017 in Loudoun County, Virginia.
"Rose steadfastly maintains her innocence. These charges would have never been brought if it weren't for her activism as a voice for women everywhere. I assure you, this selective prosecution will be met with a strong defense."

In a twist to the case, Rose -- who became a pioneer in the #MeToo movement after being one of first women to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault -- alleges the disgraced movie mogul could have had a part in framing her for drug possession as she was only arrested in November 10 of last year -- ten months after her United flight.

“Are they trying to silence me? There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of HORSES—,” she tweeted in October last year in regards to the allegations.

"There is simply no point in time at which the evidence places Ms. McGowan and the cocaine together in the same place," her lawyer said, arguing that the drugs could have been planted as result of "the underhanded targeting of Ms. McGowan by the fallen mogul."

If convicted of the charges, Rose could face up to a year behind bars.

The star’s trial date has been set for Tuesday, June 12.
