The Original Avengers Got Adorable Matching Tattoos Except The Hulk, Because He's A Baby
A big, green baby.
As Avengers: Infinity War continues to dominate the box office, breaking domestic and worldwide records and breaking hearts along the way, the original cast celebrated their achievements with an adorable act of bonding: matching tattoos!
Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner each got matching tatts, which Downey Jr posted to his Instagram.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Downey Jr said it was all Scarlett Johansson's idea. She and Chris Evans had theirs done in New York then had the tattoo artist, Joshua Lord, flown to L.A. to do Renner, Hemsworth and Downey Jr.
Lord also let the Avengers give him a tattoo which Downey Jr described as "a mess". Luckily it's only for forever!
The five got a matching minimalist version of the Avengers logo which had been incorporated with a six to either represent the six original cast members OR six years since The Avengers hit cinemas in 2012.
Some fans online also had ideas of hidden messages in the design.
The ONLY person who didn't get the tatt was the Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo. We can only imagine it's because Ruffalo is a huge baby who hates needles.
The more likely reason is because the Hulk's skin is so impenetrable no measly tatoo needle could penetrate his epidermis.
Luckily Captain America always has a plan, in his tweet Evans added, "we just need to get Ruffalo blackout drunk".
It was long rumoured many of our favourite originals wouldn't make it out alive in Avengers: Infinity War and *SPOILER ALERT* as it turned out, all six survived Thanos' cull at the end of the film. Well, at least we THINK Renner's Hawkeye survived, he forgot to show up to Infinity War.
It's not yet clear what to expect in the still untitled Avengers 4, which is currently scheduled for release in a year's time, however many of the original cast's contracts were expiring after Avengers 4 so it would make sense some big sacrifices are coming.
At least Earth's mightiest heroes will always have their tatts. Except you, Mark Ruffalo. You big baby.
The Avengers aren't the first superhero gang to get matching tattoos, according to Margot Robbie the Suicide Squad all got matching ones that said "SKWAD". Except for the one she spelled wrong. Skwarkward.
And who could ever forget this incredible Throwback Thursday of the Lord of the Rings cast.
