Keanu Reeves And Alex Winter Are Reprising Their Roles In A Third Bill And Ted Movie

The most excellent duo's first time travelling outing is almost 30 years old.

Almost 30 years after their first excellent adventure, Bill and Ted are set to journey through time once more with a third film FINALLY being announced.

After 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and the sequel Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey in 1991 there were rumours of a third film for years. There was a script, a director and even the leads, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, signed on But the film just couldn't lock down the funding.

It's a shame the boys didn't think to just go back in time and secure the funding so they'd have already had it by now.

The first rumblings of the third film dates back to 2010 where Reeves mentioned he had been talking to the writers of the original films about a script. In 2012 Winter posted in a now-deleted tweet, "Script done? Check. -We love it? Check. -Green light? Working on it!"

Fans were constantly being teased by the production of a third film they thought may never see the light of day.

But we have good news, dudes. The Hollywood Reporter revealed from Cannes that the film is finally, officially happening.

The series' original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have written the script while Dean Parisot, director of films like Galaxy Quest, is confirmed to direct.

The film, currently titled Bill & Ted Face the Music, sees our unlikely heroes middle-aged and struggling with the responsibilities of adulthood.

Someone from the future comes back to tell the pair that only one of their songs can save the world and heal the rips in the fabric of time and space. Bill and Ted set off on another journey through time to create the greatest song ever written, this time with their daughters. But it's not just a journey to save the world, it's the whole universe.

Last year Reeves let a few details of the plot slip telling a panel at New York Comic Con, " It’s a cautionary tale. They’re supposed to save the world. But when we see them they haven’t saved the world and they’re married and have kids. And they’re playing to nobody. But they have to write the song… and face the music".
