Shania Twain Revealed She Would Have Voted For Trump If She Could

That don't impress the internet much.

Shania Twain is back baby! A full 15 years after her last album the iconic country pop star is once again on the publicity trail, this time for her new album Now.

The 52-year-old suffered throughout her break with a bout of Lyme disease which paralysed her vocal cords and a very public divorce back in 2008. But Twain has always been a fighter, and in an interview with The Guardian she spoke about her life, and the journey towards creating Now.

Despite the incredible achievements of her career, Twain was asked during the chat if she could have voted in the U.S. election, how would she have swayed. Twain, a Canadian, obviously couldn't vote but if she could? She would have voted for Trump.

"I would have voted for him," she said, "because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest".

"If I were voting, I just don't want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?"

After the quote was picked up, the internet went wild.

Twain became a trending topic on Twitter (for all the wrong reasons) and was then forced to walk back her comments from the article in a series of tweets.

It's worth noting that the question was a complete hypothetical, and has eclipsed the greater story of a woman who overcame an abusive parent, a troubled childhood, a rough breakup and health battles.

Maybe Twain just had to learn the hard way not to wade into American politics while on the publicity tour. Hopefully she'll remember From this Moment On.
